What is chiller COP and how is it calculated?

COP = Q_cooling / W_input = cooling capacity (kW) / compressor power input (kW). A typical centrifugal chiller has COP of 5–7 at full load. EER = COP × 3.412 (Btu/h per watt). AHRI Standard 550/590 defines test conditions: 6.7°C (44°F) chilled water, 29.4°C (85°F) condenser water.

What is IPLV and how does it differ from full-load COP?

IPLV (Integrated Part Load Value) is a weighted average efficiency at four part-load conditions (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%) per AHRI 550/590: IPLV = 1/(0.01/A + 0.42/B + 0.45/C + 0.12/D). Modern chillers often have higher IPLV than full-load COP because centrifugal compressors are more efficient at part load.
