What does MiCA regulate?

MiCA is the EU's comprehensive crypto-asset regulatory framework. It covers issuers of asset-referenced tokens and e-money tokens, and provides a passporting regime for crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) across all EU member states.

When did MiCA come into force?

MiCA entered into force in June 2023. The stablecoin (ART/EMT) provisions applied from June 2024; the full CASP authorisation framework applies from December 2024.
