The protective threshold is ~11 µmol/L (80 mg/dL by nephelometry). PiZZ individuals typically have A1AT 5–7 µmol/L. PiSZ individuals have ~8–12 µmol/L. Augmentation therapy targets levels >11 µmol/L.
