What does the BDI measure?

The BDI captures permanent damage (present for ≥6 months or irreversible) attributed to Behçet's or its treatment. It covers ocular, neurological, vascular, renal, pulmonary, and other systems. Higher scores indicate worse prognosis.

How often should BDI be assessed?

BDI should be assessed annually to track damage accrual. Major increases in BDI score over 2–5 years are associated with significantly reduced quality of life and increased mortality.
