How does Binet staging differ from Rai staging?

Binet uses 3 stages (A, B, C) while Rai uses 5 (0–IV). Binet Stage C corresponds to Rai III–IV (anemia or thrombocytopenia). Binet is widely used in Europe while Rai is more common in North America. Both are recognized in IWCLL guidelines.

What lymphoid areas are counted in Binet staging?

Five lymphoid areas: cervical nodes, axillary nodes, inguinal nodes, spleen, and liver. Each area scores 1 regardless of size or number of nodes. Stage A is 0–2 areas, Stage B is 3–5 areas, Stage C is any stage with hemoglobin below 10 g/dL or platelets below 100K.
