Why is stenting not recommended for FMD?

PTA alone achieves excellent technical success (BP cure 35-45%, improvement 40-50%). Stenting is reserved for failed PTA or dissection. Stent implantation prevents future reintervention options.

Should all vessels be screened in FMD?

FMD is a systemic arteriopathy. Patients with renal FMD should be screened for intracranial aneurysm (by CTA or MRA), carotid/vertebral FMD, and mesenteric FMD. Lifelong vascular surveillance is recommended.
