IVRT is measured from aortic valve closure to mitral valve opening using continuous-wave Doppler from apical 5-chamber or LV outflow tract view.

What factors affect IVRT?

IVRT decreases with rising left atrial pressure (pseudonormalization), increases with impaired relaxation, tachycardia, or beta-blocker therapy. It should be interpreted in context with other diastolic parameters.
