What parameters does the Rockall score use?

Rockall score (full, post-endoscopy): age (0-2 pts), shock (systolic BP and pulse, 0-2 pts), comorbidity (0-3 pts), endoscopic diagnosis (0-2 pts), endoscopic stigmata of recent haemorrhage (0-2 pts). Max 11 points.

What Rockall score predicts high risk?

Score 0-2: low risk (rebleed 4-6%, mortality = 5: high risk (rebleed 24-43%, mortality 11-25%). Score >= 8: very high risk (mortality > 40%).

How does pre-endoscopy Rockall differ?

Pre-endoscopy Rockall uses only age, shock, and comorbidity (max 7 pts). It identifies patients for urgent endoscopy but cannot risk-stratify as well as the full post-endoscopy score which incorporates findings.
