What defines AKI Stage 1?

Stage 1: Cr ≥0.3 mg/dL within 48h or Cr 1.5-1.9× baseline within 7 days, or UO <0.5 mL/kg/h for 6-12 hours.

What AKI stage requires dialysis?

Stage 3 (Cr >3× baseline, or Cr ≥4.0 mg/dL with acute rise, or need for RRT). Some Stage 2 with life-threatening complications also require RRT.

Pre-renal (60-70%): hypovolemia, low cardiac output. Intrinsic: ATN (ischemia, nephrotoxins), GN. Post-renal: obstruction.

Stage acute kidney injury using KDIGO criteria based on serum creatinine rise and urine output.
