Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

ApexCalc is a calculator and reference platform built on the Internet Computer. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We've written this to be clear and direct — not full of legal jargon.

What Data We Collect

No account required for basic use. You can use every calculator on ApexCalc without creating an account or providing any personal information.

Optional authentication. If you choose to sign in using Internet Identity (a privacy-preserving authentication system built on the Internet Computer), we store a pseudonymous principal ID — a unique identifier that is not linked to your name, email address, or any other personal information.

Usage analytics. We may collect anonymized, aggregated usage data — such as which calculator categories are used most frequently — to improve the platform. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.

No email collection. We do not ask for or collect email addresses. There is no newsletter, no marketing list, and no account registration form.

Cookies and Local Storage

ApexCalc uses browser local storage (not traditional cookies) to preserve your session preferences, such as your active calculator tab, dark/light mode preference, and pinned tabs. This data stays in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers.

Third-party advertising cookies. ApexCalc may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may set cookies to serve personalized ads based on your browsing history across the web. You can manage or opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com.

Analytics. We may use Google Analytics or similar tools that set anonymized tracking cookies to measure how users navigate the platform. IP addresses are anonymized before being logged.

You can disable all third-party cookies by adjusting your browser settings. ApexCalc will continue to function fully without them — the only features that rely on local storage are preference persistence.

Calculation Data and Cloud Sync

Your calculation history is stored locally in your browser by default. It is not sent to any server unless you explicitly enable cloud sync.

Cloud sync (optional). If you sign in with Internet Identity and enable cloud sync, your saved calculations and pinned tabs are stored in a canister on the Internet Computer network. This data is associated with your pseudonymous principal ID — not your name or email. You can delete your cloud data at any time by signing out and using the account deletion option.

We do not sell, share, or otherwise transfer your calculation data to third parties.

Third-Party Services

ApexCalc integrates with a small number of third-party services:

  • Internet Identity — the sign-in system by DFINITY. No personal data is required. Internet Identity uses cryptographic keys stored on your device to prove your identity without revealing who you are.
  • Google AdSense (if enabled) — serves advertisements. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics (if enabled) — anonymized usage metrics. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

ApexCalc does not use Facebook Pixel, TikTok tracking, or any behavioral advertising tools beyond Google AdSense.

Your Rights

Clear your local history. You can delete your calculation history at any time using the "Clear" button in the History panel. This removes all locally stored history from your device.

Delete cloud data. If you've enabled cloud sync, signing out will disconnect your account. To permanently delete all cloud-stored data associated with your principal ID, use the data deletion option in account settings or contact us.

Opt out of analytics. You can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent analytics data from being collected during your visit.

No selling of data. ApexCalc does not sell personal data to data brokers or other third parties, period.

GDPR — EU/EEA Users

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have specific rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of access. You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure. You can request deletion of all personal data associated with your account. Cloud-synced data can be deleted by contacting support.
  • Right to data portability. You can request an export of your saved calculations and bookmarks.
  • Right to restriction. You can ask us to restrict how your data is processed while a dispute is being resolved.
  • Right to object. You can object to the processing of your data for any purpose other than providing the service.

The legal basis for processing data you voluntarily provide (e.g. cloud-synced calculations) is your explicit consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by signing out and deleting your cloud data.

ApexCalc does not transfer personal data outside the Internet Computer network to third countries unless you consent to third-party services (such as Google Analytics). To exercise your GDPR rights, email us at support@caffeine.ai.

CCPA — California Residents

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know. You can request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, or disclose.
  • Right to delete. You can request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions permitted by law.
  • Right to opt out of sale. ApexCalc does not sell personal information. We have no "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" opt-out mechanism because no sale occurs.
  • Right to non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

To exercise your CCPA rights, please contact us at support@caffeine.ai with the subject line "CCPA Request".
