Each KOOS subscale scored 0-100: 0 = extreme knee problems; 100 = no problems. Five subscales reported separately (unlike WOMAC which sums). Subscale profile useful for comparing OA (low ADL, QoL) vs sports injuries (low sport/recreation subscale).

What KOOS improvement is meaningful?

KOOS MCID: pain 8-12 points, ADL 8-11 points, QoL 9-12 points, sport 14-17 points. Patient acceptable symptom state (PASS) is approximately 75 out of 100 for KOOS pain and function subscales in OA patients.

Is KOOS validated for ACL reconstruction outcomes?

Yes. KOOS is widely used in ACL reconstruction research. KOOS Sport and Recreation subscale is most sensitive to return-to-sport level. KOOS-Child (ages 8-19) is available for pediatric knee conditions.
