SQTS is defined by QTc <=330ms (definite) or QTc <=360ms with clinical features. The shorter the QTc, the higher the arrhythmic risk. Very short QTc <300ms is extremely high risk.

What arrhythmias occur in SQTS?

SQTS causes AF (often early-onset), VF, and sudden cardiac death. Tall peaked T-waves and short ST segment on ECG are characteristic. Events often occur at rest or with vagal stimulation.

What genes cause SQTS?

KCNH2 (gain-of-function), KCNQ1 (gain-of-function), and KCNJ2 (gain-of-function) are most common. Quinidine is the pharmacotherapy of choice due to its IKr blocking effects.
